Honor Killing???

Friends, I will be focusing on India – that’s priority for me. Honor Killing - In simple words, it means the killing of people for the sake of a family’s honor. Well, reading the definition one would feel that it is OK to practice honor killing. After all, saving the honor of the family is the utmost duty of the family members. But, do we really realize what exactly is the honor for the family? The outburst of frustration-anger-ego is given the name of honor killing resulting in the deaths of innocent young people in our country. Sometimes I feel that the correct definition of ‘Honor Killing’ is now limited to ‘Marrying/Loving outside the caste, walking out of an arranged marriage, remarriage’ – HONOR of a family is just defined by these.
People need to understand what is the honor for their family - It is simply the happiness and smile of the family, the sight of the family members living happily should ideally be the honor of a family; The reasons for which the honor killings are happening is not in the name of family, it is in the name of individuals.India being such a great developing country – making fun of the traditions and customs of its neighbors, should rethink now.
Racism in Australia, ruthless rules in Islamic countries – we do notice these and complain; but are WE good enough to point fingers at them?People have already started loving on the conditions of money and position in society; if we add another condition of religion and fear here, then love will no longer be related to the heart, but it will be a mind thing – completely. Let’s do our bid to prevent this. Let’s grow up and try preventing this evil by spreading the right word among people.
